Mandibular Movement Trajectory Tracking
What it actually does:
Records how the lower jaw moves in real time. It captures opening/closing, protrusive, left and right lateral movements and combines them with the intraoral scan. This creates a dynamic occlusion rather than relying only on a static bite. The motion data can also be exported to exocad.

Restorative cases, full-mouth rehabilitation, checking dynamic occlusion, identifying premature contacts, virtual articulator workflow.
Optimal Jaw Relation Determination
What it actually does:
Helps the clinician find a suitable upper-to-lower jaw position, rather than simply recording the patient's existing bite. For dentulous patients, this can be used to establish a position for occlusal rehabilitation/splint design. For edentulous patients, it can help establish the jaw relation for denture or implant prosthetic workflows. Shining specifically states this module is intended for patients without TMD.

Severe wear, loss of vertical dimension, splints, full-mouth rehabilitation, edentulous/full-arch cases.
Mandibular Movement Trajectory Analysis
What it actually does:
This goes beyond simply recording the movement. It analyses the movement pattern, particularly the condyles and incisal point. When CBCT is integrated, it can display condylar movement in 3D and project it onto sagittal, coronal and horizontal anatomical planes. It evaluates movement coordination, left/right symmetry and repeatability/stability.

Functional assessment and TMD-related analysis; understanding abnormal or asymmetric mandibular movement.
